I recently had the delightful experience of dining at Tomahawk Steakhouse in York. Located above Lendal Cellar Pub, this gem of a restaurant truly stands out from the rest.
I would especially like to recommend their sharing boards, and here’s why.
What is Tomahawk Steakhouse?
Tomahawk Steakhouse began in 2017 when Howard Eggleston launched the initial site in Potto, North Yorkshire.
In 2020 it opened its doors to York residents serving Himalayan salt dry-aged steaks, Wagyu and other great local meat, fish & vegetarian dishes.

My First Impressions and Service at Tomahawk Steakhouse, York
I had only seen glowing reviews of Tomahawk Steakhouse, York, and my anticipation was high as I approached the restaurant.
Initially, it seemed closed? Upon entering, I was greeted by a quiet bar area and no one at the host stand.
However, after a brief pause, a manager appeared and escorted us through the restaurant, Seating in a booth located near the kitchen.
It was an interesting choice, as most establishments opt to seat diners near the entrance to give an impression of busyness, but here it was different.
Our server was attentive and informed us of a slight delay with our food, which was perfectly fine with us as it gave us the opportunity to soak in the lively atmosphere and relax with my partner.

My Food at Tomahawk Steakhouse, York
We decided to indulge in the sharing board, which was a carnivore’s delight featuring 10oz of flat iron, 4oz of tender fillet, 6oz of juicy sirloin, and 5oz of succulent ribeye, all expertly sliced and accompanied by garlic butter prawns and our choice of four classic sides.
For our sides, we opted for the beef dripping fries, Mac ‘n’ cheese, creamy garlic mushrooms, and the house hash browns branded as “brisket & cheddar.”
🥩 I recall mentioning to my partner that this was indeed the “Steak of Dreams.” Each steak cut was seared to a perfect medium rare, as we had requested.
I found myself particularly fond of the flat iron steak, and I thought this selection was ideal for those unfamiliar with the varieties of cuts to discover their own preference.
Beef dripping fries were a highlight for me, with their soft, flavorful texture, and the hash browns with brisket and cheddar were simply divine, oozing with stringy cheese and topped with beautifully prepared brisket.
My Dessert at Tomahawk Steakhouse, York
I couldn’t resist trying the remarkable “Tomahawk Bombe,” a chocolate sphere with a core of vanilla ice cream and honeycomb, sat on a bed of toasted marshmallow and served with a pour-over boat of hot salted caramel sauce.
I’d seen these kinds of desserts in videos but never imagined I’d actually experience one.
The warm salted caramel sauce poured over the chocolate shell, melting it away to reveal the creamy vanilla ice cream inside.
It’s not only a treat for the taste buds but also a spectacle worthy of capturing on videos, all at a price that felt surprisingly reasonable.
The Ambiance at Tomahawk Steakhouse, York
I felt the ambiance was vibrant and full of life, with the buzz of conversation filling the air, complemented by soothing yet cheerful music that added to the restaurant’s charm.
The lighting struck a delicate balance between dim and bright, setting the stage for great photo opportunities while still preserving the laid-back vibe of the setting.
An added touch that I particularly appreciated was the candle lit at our table, which contributed to the romantic dining experience we were seeking.
How Much Does Tomahawk Steakhouse, York Cost?
Our total bill came to £105.35 + £11.00 Service Charge/ Tip. Our Sharing Board was £75.95, We had 2 Pornstar Martinis which we’re £9.95 each, our Tomahawk Bombe cost us £9.50.
I looked at the bill and think £105.35 is a lot of money for 2 people but the amount of food and the quality we was served, i wouldn’t hesitate to do it all again.
