Herbivorous, located 17-21 Piccadilly, York YO1 9PB, In side Sparks. Sparks is a bustling communal area with multiple stalls serving up some of the best dishes in York.

🌱 Whilst most stall at Sparks have limited Vegan options I was thrilled to discover Sparks sole vegan haven, Herbivorous.

Join me as I dive into the flavors and find out if this vegan spot can rival the real deal.

What Is Herbivorous?

It was founded with the mission to provide delicious, plant-based meals that cater to vegans, vegetarians, and anyone looking to explore a more sustainable and healthy diet.

The founders were inspired by the growing demand for vegan options and a desire to contribute positively to the environment and animal welfare.

Since its inception, Herbivores York has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike, celebrated for its innovative menu and commitment to quality.

My First Impressions of Herbivorous York

When I first saw the stall, its compact size struck me, but its vibrant colors truly caught my attention.

The blue walls with simple vegetable illustrations on the exterior added a charming touch and the interior was bright and clean.

The menu boasted a variety of options, including burgers, steaks, mac ‘n’ cheese, fries, ribs, and chicken.

As this was my first experience sampling vegan offerings from a menu, I was eager to see how they tasted.

My Food at Herbivorous York

I ordered the vegan fried chicken burger. When it first arrived I thought the waiter had got the wrong table, wow, it looked exactly like a regular chicken burger.

Despite it not being real chicken, I felt it tasted surprisingly similar. It had a crunchy outside made with 12 different herbs, which tasted better tan most chicken coatings I’ve had.

Despite the color and size, there wasn’t much of a difference, I could barely fit into my mouth.

My only problem was that the burger seemed rather dry, the more I ate, the more the insides overwhelmed everything else. If the burger was thinner or had added more sauce then it would be perfect.

Was It Worth It?

I paid £13.00 for my burger, which I though was high priced but given the high quality vegan products..

I’m glad I had the opportunity to try herbivorous and it perfect spot for any vegan or vegetarian looking to dine out in York.

How To Order At Sparks York?

I found the ordering process to be simple. I could order from anywhere in the food court using the Sparks ordering app.

I had the option to choose food from any stall I liked, all delivered right to my table.

It was great because I could mix and match; I ordered both herbivorous dishes and some Pan Asian food since I couldn’t resist the sweet and sour chicken and rice.
