Panda Mami is a restaurant located on Bridge Street in the beautiful city of York. The restaurant is situated in a serene location, tucked away from the busy street and overlooking the river.

As soon as you walk into the restaurant, we were greeted with a modern and colourful waiting area that exudes a bright and welcoming atmosphere.

The staff members who greeted us were kind and friendly, which made us feel right at home.

The restaurant’s decor is inspired by a panda wild theme, with green and cream colours dominating the interior design.

The overall vibe of the restaurant is fun and playful, which is perfect for families with kids. The music playing in the background was trendy and added to the overall atmosphere of the place.

The order process was quick, efficient, and straightforward. During our visit, the restaurant was relatively quiet, which made it more enjoyable as there was no queues.

The Food In Panda Mami, York

During our lunchtime visit to Panda Mami, we noticed that compared to the evening sitting, there was a limited selection of dishes available, with no grill bar, carvery section, or chocolate fountain.

However, we still found a variety of options that suited our tastes, and the presentation of the food was visually appealing, with each dish beautifully arranged.

Although we noticed that some of the food had been sitting out for a while and the chicken dishes were dry, there were still standout dishes that were fresh and well-prepared.

  • The sushi was particularly flavourful and tasted fresh, while the duck pancakes were a highlight of the meal.
  • The sweet and sour chicken was also a hit, with the right balance of sweetness and tanginess.

Despite some of the food not being replenished, the quality and taste of the standout dishes made up for it.

Unfortunately, the dessert counter was a bit of a letdown, with only three basic choices of ice cream and a limited selection of cakes that seemed to be repetitive.

We were pleased to see that the restaurant had posters around the dining area that highlighted allergens and dietary needs, which showed that they were accommodating to different dietary requirement and preferences.

Beverages Selection at Panda Mami, York

Upon arrival at Panda Mami, we were presented with a drinks menu that featured a variety of cocktails, spirits, and wines.

However, the selection of draught beers was limited, with only Carlsberg, San Miguel, Guinness, and Somersby cider available.

We opted for two soft drinks, and while the Pepsi Max was refreshing, we were disappointed that we were only served a 16oz measurement despite ordering a large.

As the establishment was a buffet, it would have been nice to be offered water for the table to accompany our drinks.

Unfortunately, no one came back to ask us if we wanted additional drinks.

However, we are excited to try some of the special cocktails on our next visit, such as the Panda on the Beach and Powipowipand, which are priced at 2 for £17.50 or £9.50 each.

Despite the limited selection of drinks, we are looking forward to exploring more of the cocktail menu during our next visit.

Service

The host who greeted us at Panda Mami was friendly and welcoming. However, there was a slight wait to be seated as the host also worked the till for departing guests.

Once we were seated, we noticed that there were plenty of staff around, but they seemed to be less attentive and less friendly.

It seemed as though their job was done once we were seated, and no one came to check on us until we had to go up to the host to pay the bill.

While the service was efficient in terms of ordering drinks, we were disappointed to see that the waitress stand near the toilets was overflowing with plates, even though the restaurant was relatively quiet.

Panda Mami, York Ambiance

Panda Mami’s ambiance is relaxed and friendly, making it a great spot for a casual meal.

The lighting is perfect, with large front windows that look out onto the river, brightening up the restaurant area.

The music played in the background is trendy and upbeat, creating a lively atmosphere that adds to the overall dining experience.

The seating and space in the restaurant are comfortable, with ample space for large parties. We noticed that there were lots of two-seater tables that looked like they could be combined to accommodate more guests.

One unique and memorable feature of the restaurant was the flower walls, which made for a great photo backdrop.

Overall, the ambiance at Panda Mami is perfect for a fun and casual dining experience, with comfortable seating, great lighting, trendy music, and unique features that make it a standout restaurant in York.
