As I wandered through the York Christmas Market, I was delighted to spot a familiar face.
Poutine by Millers has returned after taking over the York Food Festival this summer. They’re back serving up the best comfort food for the festive season.
What Is Poutine?
Poutine is a beloved Canadian dish that consists of crispy fries topped with rich gravy and squeaky cheese curds.
This hearty and indulgent comfort food is perfect for warming up during the festive season.
My Experience At Poutine York Christmas Market
Even throughout the hustle and bustle of the York Christmas Market, I found Poutine’s staff to be extremely efficient and quick with their service.
The menu is straightforward: you can choose between traditional poutine or opt for a loaded version with various toppings.
I particularly appreciated that Poutine advertises on their menu that they cook with rapeseed oil and that the gravy is vegetarian.
The steaming hot gravy truly warmed me up as I continued to explore York’s Christmas Market.
My Food At Poutine York Christmas Market
I decided to try the traditions Poutine which is twice cooked fresh cut fries, real Canadian cheese curds and southern fried gravy.
I also added crispy onions to give it a crunch.
I loved the perfect balance of crispy fries, rich gravy, and squeaky cheese curds in the poutine. The flavors melded together beautifully, creating a comforting and satisfying dish.
Alternatively you can have them loaded, where you can build your own poutine style.
Toppings included:
- crispy onions
- chives
- buffalo hot sauce
- and crispy shredded chicken
How Much Did It Cost?
Purchasing the Classic Poutine set me back exactly £10, but considering the incredible authentic flavors I found it to be entirely worth it.
I found the price of Poutines to be very similar to it’s sister stall Saint Nicks Frites which is also owned by Millers.
