Located on Shipton Rd, YO30 1XJ, this fabulous place is a pub and carvery brand with a wacky warehouse.
Although I might be a bit too old for the wacky warehouse, I had a fantastic time in the warm and inviting dining area.
The food was exceptional, and the customer service was top-notch. This pub is a must-visit in York.

The Riverside Farm, owned by Greeneking, is a purpose-built pub conveniently located just off the A19.
It offers a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a family outing.
You can enjoy a wide selection of high-quality food and drinks at affordable prices.
If you need entertainment for the kids, the Riverside has you covered with an outdoor play area for sunny days and a newly refurbished wacky warehouse for rainy days.
My Food at Riverside Farm, York
To begin with, we ordered a variety of starters for the family to share.
They had an offer of 3 small plates or starters for £12, and we decided on the:
- hunter topped chips
- crispy chilli beef
- and BBQ chicken wings
I couldn’t decide on which I wanted, so I tried them all.
Each starter was deliciously warm, flavourful, and beautifully presented.
As for the main course, I opted for the double chicken Mac stack burger.
It featured two pieces of southern fried chicken topped with Mac and cheese, hot Nashville sauce, and chili cheese bites, accompanied by a side of fries and two onion rings.
Being a huge fan of cheese, this burger was a cheese lover’s paradise.
The combination of cheese and chicken truly embodied the essence of a classic American-style chicken burger. I would defiantly order this again.
My Drinks at Riverside Farm, York
I opted for a large diet cola for my choice of drink, the waitress thoughtfully served it with ice and fruit, which was a perfect touch.
As I enjoyed my meal, I went back to the bar to order a second glass.
The Riverside pub offers an extensive selection of drinks, with a drinks menu available on the tables.
The menu showcases various drink deals and unique products, like 2 for 1 on bottled beers an unique products such as Guinness 0%, which is not commonly found in many pubs. I was torn between another cola or trying Guinness for the first time.
My Service at Riverside Farm, York
Upon entering, we were greeted by a very polite hostess who informed us that it was quiet night and we could choose our own table. Naturally, we opted for a booth.
To place our orders, we had to go up to the bar, which is typical in most pub dining settings.
We were also informed that they have an app through which we could place our orders and have everything brought to our table. Personally, I prefer the traditional approach and enjoy chatting at the bar.
I was served by one of the friendliest managers I’ve ever encountered.
She let me know from the start that there were a few items missing from the menu, but fortunately, everything I wanted was available. She made me feel incredibly welcome, engaging in open conversation and sharing a few laughs while taking my order.
The food did take a bit longer than expected.
Other tables around us received their orders before us, despite us having ordered earlier.
Although we did order starters, it took nearly 30 minutes from when the starters were cleared to our mains arriving.
Nonetheless, we were checked on throughout our meal, and I must commend all the staff for their politeness and warm hospitality.

The Riverside Farm is a warmly lit pub that immediately makes you feel welcome as soon as you step inside.
From the inviting ambiance of the carvery to the beautifully admired bar, every detail exudes a sense of comfort.
During my visit in December, the pub was adorned with festive decorations, including snowdrop lights surrounding the walls and a grand tree at the entrance.
A personal favourite of mine was the hand-drawn trees on the windows using snow spray, showcasing the team’s dedication to decorating the pub with thoughtful touches.
The pub is divided into two distinct areas: the pub dining section and the bar area, catering to both families seeking a relaxed meal and individuals looking for drinks and conversation.
What I Paid at Riverside Farm and Is It Worth It?
The total bill for our meal, including 3 starters, 3 mains, and 4 drinks, came to £55.87. This was undeniably fantastic value for money, considering the high-quality food and reasonable prices.
The menu features a variety of enticing deals, such as the option to choose 3 starters for £12 or upgrade your burger for an additional £1.50.
While drink prices are on par with nearby establishments, the pub also offers enticing drink deals, including bottled beers on a 2 for 1 deal and doubling up on spirits for an extra £1.50, which is a great option for sports nights.
