On our walk along the river, we came across another hidden area that we recently hadn’t heard of.
π Located at Terry Ave, York YO23 1JQ, Rowntree Park was new to us, and we decided to take a look.
If you are interested in a calming place to join some activities or just enjoy the fresh air, you’re in the right place.
Rowntree Park Brief History
Rowntree Park was founded and created in July of 1921 by Joseph Rowntree as a memory of the people who lost their lives in World War 1 who had worked for Joseph.
Now the Park is a community space where you can take up multiple activities and clubs. While also serving as a calming place to visit with friends, family, or even by yourself.
My Experience At Rowntree Park
When I visited, the main purpose was to let the little one have a run around but i didn’t realize it had so much more to offer.
The space was very open and easy to navigate with a large duck pond in the centre. Whilst following the path around the park the whole experience was so relaxing, the space was so open no one felt clustered or overwhelmed.
π³ We found a quiet area inside the gardens where we could enjoy our picnic, the tall tree and bushes enclosed the area making it feel private and enchanting.
We finished our trip with a little run round in the play area which the kids loved and plenty of seating so i could sit a rest.
