I recently check out The Golden Fleece, a historic pub located in the city center.

Known for its haunted reputation, the pub has been around since the 16th century and boasts a cozy atmosphere with traditional wood paneling and furniture, as well as low ceilings.

I had the chance to try out some classic pub food, including fish and chips and bangers and mash, which were delicious.

Additionally, The Golden Fleece offers rooms at a reasonable rate, making it a great option for travelers looking for a unique and historic place to stay.

The House of Trembling Madness

I’ve visited The House of Trembling Madness many of times, this one-of-a-kind pub that immediately catches your eye with its large see-through windows and unique exterior.

For me it’s the interior that truly sets this pub apart, as it’s housed in a 12th-century building with a medieval-themed decor that never fails to impress me.

The House of Trembling Madness is truly one of my favorite pubs. It also has a selection of craft beers and ales, as well as its hearty menu of pub food.

I stumbled upon The Blue Bell Pub last year, It’s known to be one of the smallest and most charming pubs in the city.

The Guy Fawkes Inn

I had the pleasure of checking out The Guy Fawkes Inn, a historic pub located near the imposing York Minster.

Named after the infamous conspirator who plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605, the pub boasts a cozy and inviting interior with traditional wood paneling and open fires.

I also tried some classic pub food, including a delicious steak and ale pie and some tasty fish and chips.

The pub also has a hidden beer garden with beautiful outdoor furniture, which is perfect for enjoying a drink on a warm summer day.

Additionally, The Guy Fawkes Inn offers a unique experience with its old Victorian rooms that can be booked out for a truly historic stay.

The Maltings

 I stopped by The Maltings, a popular pub that’s conveniently located near the train station.

The pub boasts a modern interior with a lively atmosphere, and I couldn’t help but notice the recently repainted jet black exterior that gave the building a sleek and contemporary look.

The Maltings offers a wide selection of craft beers and ales, and I was particularly impressed with their menu of classic pub food, especially the delicious home-cut chips.

It’s worth noting that The Maltings can get extremely busy on race days, as it’s the closest pub to the station.

The Punch Bowl

I discovered The Punch Bowl, a charming pub located on a busy high street in a beautiful Victorian building.

The pub is divided into three small rooms, and although there is limited seating out front, the interior of the building exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere.

I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing food, which was expertly prepared and reasonably priced, and the welcoming staff made me feel right at home.

The drinks were also reasonably priced, which was a nice bonus. All in all, my experience at The Punch Bowl was delightful.
