When it comes to dining out with the family, finding a restaurant that caters to the tastes of both discerning adults and spirited children can be quite the culinary quest.
I highly recommend Harvesters, Bella Italia and Flying Legends.
Join me as i explore why these restaurants have become the go-to places to eat with kids in Clifton Moor, seeking a dining experience that combines quality, value and a relaxing atmosphere.
1. Harvester Clifton Moor
Harvester Clifton Moor is my top pick when I’m out with my hungry kids, and I’m sure it will become a favorite for you as well. This family-oriented eatery offers excellent value, serving delicious meals for all ages that won’t break the bank.
The children’s menu is a hit with my kids, and I have to say, it’s also a hit with me.
Why?
Because for as little as £6.49, you can get a main dish, two sides, and a dessert. It’s a situation where both my wallet and my kids are smiling!
On our latest visit to Harvester, my youngest opted for a cheese and tomato pizza, while my eldest went for the meatballs and pasta.
The side salad bar was complimentary and bottomless, which meant they could pile up on the cucumber slices without any extra cost to me.
What’s more, each meal included at least two portions of their recommended daily intake of vegetables, thanks to the restaurant’s involvement with the Peas Please campaign.
It’s the personal touches that makes me return to Harvester, cleanliness and upkeep added to its welcoming atmosphere right from the start.
As a single parent, I particularly appreciate the table service, as it means I don’t have to leave my children unattended.
The server was also very considerate, bringing over coloring sheets at the beginning of our meal to help entertain the kids, a gesture that was much appreciated.

2. Bella Italia
As soon as I mentioned pasta or pizza within ear shot of my kids, they can’t stop talking about going to Bella Italia.
It’s certainly one of their favourite places to eat in Clifton Moor, York, and I utterly agree. It seems my children have excellent taste (though I might be slightly biased).
Located in the Clifton Moor Shopping Park, Bella Italia is an ideal spot to grab a meal whilst out with the kids.
The ambiance is lively, inviting, and brightly lit, making you feel welcomed into the Bella Italia family from the moment you enter.
I find it to be reasonably priced, my youngest gets a starter, a smaller main, dessert, and a drink for £6.49.
My eldest goes for a similar deal but with a larger main for £8.49. It’s the perfect place for a stylish yet affordable lunch.
Their favorite menu items are always changing, but on our latest visit, they enjoyed the rich cheesy garlic bread, chicken crunchies with peas and fries, and the “Create Your Own Gelato” for dessert. I have a hunch that the gelato is the main attraction for them.
As someone who appreciates gourmet dining, it can be challenging to find places that cater to that desire while also being child-friendly.
Discovering a venue that offers remarkable food that both the kids and I can savor is indeed a rare find.

3. The Flying Legends
The Flying Legends is where we go when I fancy relaxing, but the kids want to run around and play.
It’s a Hungry Horse with a Wacky Warehouse tacked on the side. Boasting both indoor and outdoor play (and seating), it’s a great spot, regardless of the weather.
There’s a dedicated area for tots, lots of obstacles, ball pools, slides, a zip wire, and even an area for arts and crafts! Honestly, it’s a job to tear my two away from all the fun once we’ve eaten.
Speaking of eating, there is a restaurant under all this soft play enjoyment. The staff are welcoming, and fantastic with children.
The food is brilliant value for money with daily deals suitable for all. We usually stop in for a light lunch, so the kids can have a play and we can eat a wholesome meal.
The facilities are geared toward families, too. You’ll find pram space, changing facilities, and highchairs.
Plus, the little ones get a colouring sheet while they wait for their meal, I don’t need to tell you how much of a lifesaver this can be.
