When looking for a place to eat out in Monks Cross and Vangarde, York, some great restaurants come in mind.
I highly recommend Prezzo Italian Restaurant, Nando’s, Pear Tree Farm, Pizza Hut, and Hollywood Bowl.
Dining out with kids can be a demanding experience, as it can be tough to find a suitable place that meets the needs of both you and your child.
In order to fully enjoy the experience, I assess each establishment based on the availability of high chairs, provision of children’s entertainment, availability of kid-friendly menus, and the presence of baby changing facilities.
1. Pear Tree Farm
I highly recommend Pear Tree Farm for dining out with children.
They offer a diverse menu, including a dedicated kids’ menu and carvery, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
The pub is thoughtfully divided into family and adult dining areas, providing families with a separate space away from the bar area.
In the family dining section, they provide children’s toilets and baby changing facilities. Additionally, highchairs and coloring activity sheets are available for children when seated.
The kids particularly enjoy visiting Pear Tree Farm because of the under-5 play area, allowing them to play and expend their energy while I can relax.
During our visit, the kids ordered the Chicken Wings starter with BBQ sauce and cucumber sticks, as well as the Cheese and Tomato Pizza with chips.
To our delight, when ordering a kids’ meal, they also received a complimentary scoop of ice cream.
2. Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut is my child’s preferred dining spot, and I wholeheartedly concur.
It’s a fantastic place to take your children without straining your budget. They provide high chairs, coloring sheets, and an impressive kids’ menu with a wide selection to choose from.
Additionally, Pizza Hut offers the convenience of ordering through your phone, eliminating the need to leave the kids unattended at the table while placing your order.
Our go-to choice is the Mega Monster Meal Deal, which allows my little one to select her own pizza, side, drink, dessert, and includes the unlimited salad bowl, all for just £8.99!
Personally, I believe her fondness for coming here is solely for the renowned Ice Cream factory.
3. Hollywood Bowls
Situated at Vanguard Shopping Park, the newly opened Hollywood Bowl is an ideal and entertaining destination to take children for a meal.
In addition to the amusement and bowling entertainment, Hollywood Bowl also offers an impressive kids menu for those under 10.
High chairs and a baby changing area are conveniently located in the small dining area near the bar.
Personally, my kids adore visiting Hollywood Bowl for a delightful night out treat, although keeping them seated can be a bit challenging.
While the menu is small, the price is great value. My kids always opt for the mozzarella sticks and chips, a unique choice not commonly found on many kids menus.
4. Prezzo Italian Restaurant
For a more sophisticated dining experience with the kids, Prezzo is the perfect choice.
We savored a delightful 3-course Italian meal without any hassle. Prezzo warmly welcomed us with their freshly prepared food and child-friendly ambiance.
Upon being seated, we were promptly provided with a kids’ menu and coloring sheets. The kids’ menu offered reasonable prices and was accommodating to any adjustments for my selective child.
She opted for the Crispy Fried Mozzarella starter, Pepperoni Pizza main, and the Ice Cream Sandwich.
Additionally, they offer baby changing facilities and ample space for strollers. Personally, I particularly enjoy visiting during the summer as they have a beautiful outdoor dining area.
5. Nando’s
I appreciate Nando’s for its convenience when dining with kids, and it’s a familiar choice for many.
However, due to its limited selection, it may not be the ideal option for a parent of a picky eater like myself.
Nando’s primarily focuses on chicken, catering to a specific audience. While I personally enjoy visiting Nando’s with friends, it’s not my top choice when dining with my little one.
Nevertheless, they do offer amenities such as baby changing facilities, coloring sheets, and high chairs.
Their Nandinos or Kids menu is a fixed price of £5.95, allowing you to choose a main, spice level, two sides, and a drink or dessert.
During our visit, we ordered the kids’ chicken burger, opting for it to be plain, but unfortunately, the chicken is infused with piri piri, resulting in it being too spicy for my child.
