How to Get to the Races?

Here’s our walking guide to York Race Course:

  1. Start at York Railway Station: If you’re in the city center, this is a good landmark to begin your walk.
  2. Head South: Exit the station and head right onto Queen St.
  3. Turn Right onto Blossom Street: After a short distance, turn right past The Windmill Inn, onto Blossom Street.
  4. Continue onto Tadcaster Road: Keep walking straight as Blossom Street merges into Tadcaster Road.
  5. Turn Left onto Knavesmire Road: After about a mile, you’ll see Knavesmire Road on your left. Turn onto this road.
  6. Arrive at York Racecourse: Follow Knavesmire Road, and you’ll find yourself at the entrance to York Racecourse.

Alternatively, I suggest one of the following travel methods:

  • By Taxi
    • Getaway Cars taxi – 01904 707070
    • Streamline Taxis York – 01904 656565.
  • By Bus – The 197 Shuttle Bus takes you from York Railway Station to the Racecourse. . A single fare is £2.50, while a return is £4.00.
  • By Car – To get to the racecourse, follow the signposts from all major routes and park in one of the free car parking spaces on Racecourse Road.
