Finding a good Chinese restaurants with excellent service and high-quality food can often be a challenge.
🥢 So, when I decided to try out ‘The Mulan York,’ located at 2 Tower Ct, Oakdale Rd, York YO30 4YL, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it exceeded my expectations.
Here’s why I think ‘The Mulan’ deserves more recognition than it currently has!
First Impressions at The Mulan York
At first glance I instantly noticed how small the building looked from the outside, it was hardly noticeable.
I really enjoyed the old fashion decor and authentic design, it filled me with hope for a great traditional Chinese dining experience.
👍 When entering I did notice how quiet it was. Even for a small restaurant there was only 2 other tables taken. Maybe delivery is more popular? Well, they’re truly missing out.
My Experience at The Mulan York
My overall experience at Mulan York was an enjoyable one.
What stood out to me was the attentive service we received, the waitress made us feel relaxed and she was confident enough to have a laugh with our party. Which I find a lot of place miss trying to speed up service.
🍽️ Our food was served quickly with every dishes aroma filling the room. The waitress recommend to our party that we opted for the Absolute Deluxe Deal instead of paying for individual dishes, which saved us so much money.
We had so much food we asked to take the rest away which she was more than happy to do for us.
My Food at The Mulan York
As I said, our waitress recommended we ordered the Absolute Deluxe Deal.

The starter Platter consisted of Sesame Prawn Toast, 4 Peking Spare Ribs, 2 Satay Chicken Skewers, 4 Crispy Wontons and Crispy Seaweed.
I couldn’t believe how much we received as a starter, this could have been the main course and I would have been happy. Also, the Satay Chicken Skewers we’re unbelievable!
Duck Platter, came with 6 Steamed Duck Pancakes, Half Shredded Ducks, Hoisin Sauce and Shredded Cucumber.
I felt like this second platter wasn’t needed and was just excess food but I wasn’t complaining.
I’m a big duck lover and this platter would be something I ordered off the main menu so you can imagine my happiness when this was put in front of me.
The Mains, 3 dish from the main menu of your own choosing. We chose Sweet and Sour Chicken, Crispy Beef, Salt and Pepper Chicken and a large tub of Special Fried Rice which was included in the deal.
Everything was perfect down to the last grain of rice. For one of the first times I had zero complaints.
How Much Did It Cost?
The Absolute Deluxe deal is £26.50 per person and as to be for a minimum of 2 people.
So for our Starter Platter, Duck Wrap Platter, 3 Main Dishes and Special Fried Rice it came to a total of £53.00.
For drinks we ordered 2 large diet coca colas which came to £6.00.
✅ Overall, our visit came to a total of £59.00. Which I think is an unbelievable deal for the amount of food we received. Every dish we received exceeded our expectations.

Parking
The closest car park is directly next to the Mulan, stretching in front of the other shops at 2 Tower Ct, Oakdale Rd, York YO30 4YL. We didn’t have any issues finding a space.
Alternatively, you can park at Clifton more shopping park, and take a small walk to Mulan.
Conclusion
The Mulan York is a friendly Chinese restaurant that serves high-quality food and dishes. The service is polite and the atmosphere is calming and full of joy.
If you were to return I would get the Absolute Deluxe again as it was a great deal but possibly change up my main choices to keep the experience exciting. I will definitely be returning and giving The Mulan another try.
