Halloween is one of the most appreciated events of the year. It’s the time of year when everyone can dress up, scare friends, watch horror movies, and my favorite part, carve pumpkins.
🎃 So to get into the festive spirit, I visited The Flower Belt pumpkin patch, located at Helmsley, York YO62 5EE, to pick out the perfect pumpkin to carve.
My First Impressions Of The Flower Belt, Helmsley
This was my first time ever going to a pumpkin patch, so as you can imagine the excitement was static.
I’ll start off by saying i was confused to see parking at The Flower Belt even though the website saying to park in Helmsley Village and taking a 10 minute walk to the patch.
When we arrived the site looked huge, having stalls selling food and drinks, a flower patch, hay-bails for children to climb on, picnic tables and obviously the pumpkin patch.
How Does It Work?
- Start by picking up your Wheel barrow at the entrance of The Flower Belt to help carry your pumpkins
- Head to the pumpkin patch and take your time to pick the perfect one for you.
- After choosing, make sure to measure your pumpkins.
- Then your done, head over to the hut to pay.
My Experience At The Flower Belt, Helmsley
Looking at the size of the site i though the patch was going to be hugh, but i was disappointed at the size of the patch. I found The Flower Patch took up majority of the site.
I will say there was plenty of impressive pumpkins throughout the patch. I did find it so disheartening, no fault of The Flower Belts owners, seeing pumpkins that customers had broken with their wheelbarrows.
After walking round the patch we did end up choosing 3 pumpkins, we used the measuring rings to find out the sizes and they were all measured as large pumpkins.
We didn’t stick around to try any food but i saw they made fresh pizza and served hot drinks which seemed an absolutely amazing extra. I will definitely have to try this next year.
How Much Did It All Cost?
The prices all depends of size, there are 4 different sizes: Small for £3, Medium for £5, Large for £7 and anything over for £10.
🎃 Our 3 larger pumpkins came to £21, which for pumpkins, for me was very expensive.
Although, if you make it a day out with picnic and let the children run round the flower patch it does make it worth it. It’s an activity that only happens once a year.

Final Thoughts
I had an amazing time at the pumpkin patch, and I would definitely visit again next year.
My family and I put our crafting skills to work and made them into 3 super scary jack-o’-lanterns, and also made some delicious pumpkin pie with the leftovers. So, i hope you can enjoy that heartwarming experience too.
